Armstrong Journal Part 12 Pastor Lyn Roesler Due Oct. 29 For Nov 3, 2021

I am back again to let you in on the next part of my life story. Last time I wrote of the struggles I faced at my new parish in Lincoln E. Free Church. That was a real downer! This time I want to tell you how God took this ½ of a church and brought it to new life and vitality!
The hurting church needed to get its focus off the past, and see what God wanted to do for the future. Isaiah 43:18 – 19 “Do not call to mind the former things, or consider things of the past.19 Behold, I am going to do something new,
Now it will spring up; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.” Luke 9:62 “And Jesus said unto him, no man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
How could this be done? God always has a plan and He used what He had given me as a gift. I had often thought it was a trial at the time. I had been given a Christian Service Assignment. (Required when I got to Trinity College) I was an AWANA leader for boys for the Hawthorn Baptist Church in Lake Zurick, IL.
I found four couples at Lincoln who were willing to take the training course to be leaders and we started this Club for Kids. WOW we had no Idea how God would bless us. The kids came by the dozens! Then one of the matriarchs of the Church ran a bus from Motley bringing Kids! Another man in Randall bought a bus to bring Kids to the Club.
With over 100 Kids a week we had to enlist more leaders! The excitement was infectious, and volunteers were desiring to take the job! Kids were accepting JESUS as their Savior and Lord. We needed to remodel the basement. We put in a new steel I-beam to take out all the posts. We made a new game floor; tore out rooms and walls to make classrooms and new stairway. The people had caught the vision. Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained, (perish) but happy is one who keeps the Law.”
God was at work. If you do good for someone’s kids, it won’t be long, and the parents will follow. Families wanted to join the church. I did many houses calls to talk to people about joining the church. John and Jackie are only one example, they had read that to join the church they would need to share their testimony. John asks me, “Pastor Lyn what is a testimony?” I turned to one of his kids, Clarence, and said “Clary do you know what a testimony is?” This little 10-year-old boy said “of course, it is to tell people when I asked Jesus into my heart to be may savior,” I asked John and Jackie if they had ever asked Jesus to come into their heart to be their Savior. They said “No”. I said would you like to ask Jesus to forgive your sins and come into your heart? They both said “Yes”, and they did! They prayed the sinner’s prayer and became Christians, joined the Church, and began to grow in their newfound faith. This story was repeated over and over. God was richly blessing us! Where is YOUR VISION FOCUSED! Is it on what you think you can or cannot do, or on what God will do if we follow HIM?
