Valley Vue Spotlight - Alverta Hegener

Valley Vue Care Center’s Resident Spotlight shines brightly on Alverta Sophia Hegener. Alvie was born on November 8, 1920, in East Chain, MN, to Ed Thate and Emma Meyer. She was the “oldest, wisest, and prettiest” of five children. After graduation from Fairmont High School, Alvie moved to Minneapolis where she was a model for the Young and Quinlan department store for four years (“And I never fell off the runway once!”) She also worked at the telephone company and for her husband’s family’s barber shop supply company. She and her husband, Donald, married on May 1, 1945, and lived in Edina, MN. In her free time, Alvie liked to cook and travel. When asked what she liked best about living at Valley Vue, she replied, “They are wonderful people. They are all different and nice and all are concerned with me. You couldn’t ask for nicer people!” Shine on, Alvie!
