The never-ending rainy weather here in northern Iowa last year was more than challenging for the farmers in our area. As we drove down the highways, we could easily see what the farmers were up against. Large ponds covered much of the fields. Crops had to be replanted, and the rains continued. Finally, the ponds had to be abandoned.
Hope all the fathers out there had a great Father’s Day weekend. I have stretched mine into several weeks, but that is certainly OK with me. Last week I wrote about one of the special gifts I received so this week I thought I would share an event that I took part in over the weekend.
The Bancroft City Council along with Police Chief Art Ingalls discussed what could be done to help reduce speeding on Summit Street during their June 10 meeting. A concerned resident asked that a stop sign be placed on Summit Street to help reduce people speeding down the stretch of road from A-42 to main street.
The Emmet County Supervisors held their regular meeting on June 11, 2019 with all board members present. Chairman, John Pluth, called the meeting to order at 9 a.m.

Cutting Oats

Cutting oats is not a typical activity in the area but one that has taken place for a few years on the David Jensen farm just outside of Ringsted.
