North Union came out of the gate on fire, building a commanding 27-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and cruised to a 75-24 Top of Iowa Conference girls’ basketball victory over the North Iowa Lady Bison in a game played at Buffalo Center on Friday, Nov. 30.
If faithfulness to one’s employer and the public is any indication of one’s value, Deb Zoellner is pure gold. Zoellner, a familiar face at Bank Midwest of Armstrong for the past 28 years, is retiring. She will be honored with an open house 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5.
After hearing from a number of Courthouse employees, the Emmet County Board of Supervisors at their Tuesday, Nov. 27 meeting decided to put on the following week’s agenda proposed remodeling of the county attorney’s offices.
On Thursday, November 29, 2018 something magical was planned. With a major snow storm on the way and the cold air slicing through the wind, something amazing was in the works. The City of Bancroft held their annual “Lights Parade” which features their annual lighting of the tree.
Emmet County Board of Services Chair Bev Juhl will retire Dec. 31 after giving 38 years of service to Emmet County. Juhl served as Emmet County auditor for several years before being elected to the Emmet County Board of Supervisors.
With the quickly approaching Christmas holiday there will soon be questions on the garbage pick-up dates. In talking with City Maintenance Supervisor Troy Leininger he stated that regular pick-up will take place for residents on December 26th. City hall is closed on the 24th and 25th of December.

Semi Scare

The driver of this semi truck and trailer cut things a little short last Friday as he tried to turn around west of Armstrong.
