When I discovered these two pictures in the large collection which was loaned to me, I knew I wanted to write about this business which was a vital part of the Bancroft community.
Rianna Vivens was 1 of 20 selected in the state to preform her solo mime “The Trying Triathlete” at state speech. She was one of 5 selected in North Unions region which includes Spencer, Sioux Center, Carroll, and Storm Lake. “We had a performer selected to show off her performance at the All-State Festival on Saturday, February 16th!
The Emmet County Board of Supervisors at their Tuesday, Feb. 5 meeting clarified the county policy for Courthouse closings during inclement weather.

Todd Glasnapp of rural Ringsted was sworn in as the new supervisor at the Tuesday, Feb. 5 meeting of the Emmet County Board of Supervisors. Glasnapp replaces Bev Juhl who retired Dec. 31. Glasnapp was appointed by Emmet County Auditor Amy Sathoff, Recorder Diann Minion and Treasurer Brenda Moore, as provided under Iowa Code.
Are you overwhelmed with the winter doldrums? It was 28 degrees below zero this morning, and it was time for me to write my column. I just couldn’t get motivated to do any deep thinking. However, when I found this picture which was taken in January or February, 1967, I knew I had the perfect one for this week.
