July 24, 2017 is the day Mark Larsen of rural Ringsted gained a new lease on life – thanks to a gift from a 19-year-old man Mark never met. That was the day Mark received his new heart at St. Mary’s Hospital – part of the Mayo Clinic campus in Rochester, Minn. Mark’s story, though – a very lucky one – began much earlier.
I heard that yesterday’s (April 18th) snowstorm is supposed to be the last one of our 2017/2018 winter season. I certainly hope the weather forecasters are right, as I am so very winter weary. Many of our snowbirds have returned, only to be disillusioned by all of the snow storms we saved for them.
The Bancroft Fire Department was called out at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17 to a grease fire that started in the far east complex in Apartment B of the Pleasant View Manor on Ramsey Street, across from Accura Healthcare. The complex consists of five buildings with four apartments in each.
