January 2nd will be a tough day at the Mayo Hospital with six more positions being cut. Just a month ago it was announced that Mayo Clinic in Fairmont would be laying off 17 nurses. This last announcement of layoffs will include 4 nurses, 1 health unit coordinator and one sterile processing technician.
A propane shortage – caused primarily by distribution problems – is forcing some area farmers to bite the bullet and pay local elevators to dry their corn.
Greg Buum, current Armstrong Mayor, won the 2019 election on November 5th. Greg will serve as Mayor of Armstrong through December of 2021. Greg Buum did not have a challenger for the mayoral race until Dan Moore, current city council member, put his name in the hat as a write in candidate shortly before the election.
I knew that this year was moving too quickly for me. But I was heartsick when I realized that I had overlooked Veteran’s Day in last week’s column. I hope to make up for my mistake this week, as I honor all of the veterans who have served our great country. My focus will be on one veteran very special to me, my late husband, Gene.
The Bancroft City Council was able to formally meet the new electric lineman Trevor Kluender during their November 4 meeting.
The Emmet County Board of Supervisors at their Tuesday, Oct. 29 meeting received a request of $7,458 from the Elderbridge Agency on Aging – a slight request from $7,205 funding.
