Lillian I. Johnson

Funeral service for Lillian I. Johnson, 89, of Fairmont, MN will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 29, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lillian passed away Monday morning, December 26, 2016 at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service is handling the arrangements for the family.

Lillian Ione (Wegner) Johnson was born October 17, 1927 near Armstrong, IA, the daughter of Frank and Emma (Werling) Wegner. She attended the Cheever Country School near Armstrong. On June 27, 1964, Lillian was united in marriage to Irvin Johnson in Elmore, MN and they made their home in Swea City, IA. In December of 1991, they moved to Fairmont. Over the years, Lillian did some housecleaning for others, as well as painting and wallpapering. Irvin passed away on January 16, 2000.
Lillian was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and the Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed working on puzzles, playing bingo and cards, sewing and helping the elderly.

Those that will cherish her memory include her three daughters, Gloria Frideres of West Bend, IA, Patricia Buckmeier (Duane Waterbury) of Fairmont, Marcia Jentz (Mark) of Henderson, NV; eleven grandchildren, Jeffrey (Sonja) Buckmeier, Travis Buckmeier, Kari (Mark) Jellum, Stephanie (Mitch) Schlamp, Melissa (Jon) Girres, Tracy (Jeremy) Prothman, Christopher Krug (Kerb Preston), Ryan (Rachel) Manwarren, Nicole (Charlie) Young, Kate (Scott) McKane, Tim (Rian) Jentz; twenty six great grandchildren; sisters, Florence Pytleski and Dorothy Johnson; brother, Donald (Karen) Wegner; sister-in-law, Celesta Johnson; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Emma Wegner; husband, Irvin Johnson; son-in-law, Richard Krug; granddaughters, Tamra Buckmeier and Jackie Krug; sisters, Luella Hansen, Norma Jorgensen, Pearl Borowiak, Fern Nawrocki, Arlene Wegener, Gladys Mart, Velda Sathoff, Delores “Jean” Sathoff; brothers, Clyde, Earl and Robert Wegner.
