Mary Bulow (Paulsen) Barrett the daughter of Paul C. and Jensine (Andersen) Paulsen was born January 28, 1921 in Livermore, Iowa. She died on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa at the age of 97.
Mary received her education and graduated from Ringsted High School in 1938. She then attended Estherville Junior College and graduated in 1940.
On April 26, 1942 she was united in marriage to Raymond Barrett. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Dolliver and Armstrong areas. Mary also taught three years at the country schools. For hobbies, Mary enjoyed bowling, golfing, crocheting and spending time with family. Raymond died in 2010.
Mary was a past member of Dolliver Lutheran Church, where she served as a Bible School and Sunday School Teacher. Mary was currently a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, served on the Board of Education and was a Deacon. She also was the Circle Bible Study leader for many years and held several offices in N.L.C.W. She served as past president and treasurer for the Armstrong Evening Study Club.
Left to cherish Mary's memory are her children: Tom Barrett of Estherville; Jim Barrett and his special friend, Pat Gonnerman of Pocahontas, Iowa; Richard Barrett and his wife, Shirley of Estherville; Bonnie Espeland of Fairmont, Minnesota; Jody Park and her husband, Ed of Warsaw, Indiana; Jon Barrett and his wife, Darla of Fairmont; grandchildren: Scott Barrett; Justin Barrett; Jessica Rezac; Shane Espeland; Kymm Putman; Cynthia Park; Marilyn Park; Dan Barrett; great-grandchildren: Lillyan Putman; Vylet Putman; Halle Rezac; Abby Rezac; Casey Rezac; Olivia Espeland; Terra Barrett; Zayne Barrett; Raegan Barrett; Sage Espeland; Izadora Kyser; Sloane Barrett and Brock Barrett and sister: Irene Alldritt of Bellevue, Washington.
She has been preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandson, Michael Barrett; and brother, Leonard Paulsen. www.henryolsonfuneral.com
