Diane (Fischer) Bensen

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday December 23, 2015, at First Lutheran Church, Algona, with Reverend Marsha Smith and Reverend Dr. Mark Holmer officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM, Tuesday December 22, 2015, at First Lutheran Church, Algona. Burial will be held in East Lawn Cemetery.

Diane (Fischer) Bensen was born September 30, 1938, in Danube, Minnesota, the middle daughter of Floyd and Lilah (Sommerfeld) Fisher. She was confirmed and baptized in the Danube Evangelical United Brethren Church. She graduated from the Danube High School in 1956, followed by attending Westmar College, in LeMars, Iowa and receiving her Bachelor’s degree from Mankato State, Mankato, MN.
She married Lyle Bensen of Ringsted, Iowa in August 1960. She found great joy in school in the Ringsted School District and the Armstrong-Ringsted School District for 41 years. Diane was the writer of five Bible School Curriculums and taught Bible School for eight years. Diane loved to read, write, cook, play piano and harp, and travel.

Diane L. Bensen, 77, of Algona, died Sunday December 20, 2015, at home with Lyle at her side.
She was a member of the Ringsted Presbyterian Church for 42 years and joined the Algona First Lutheran Church in May of 2003, when she and her husband, Lyle, moved to Algona.
She is survived by her husband, Lyle Bensen; sister, Sharon (Keith) Kerssen.
