Gerald Marinus Paulsen was born February 8, 1938 to Marinus and C. Anina (Petersen) Paulsen at the family farm near Ringsted, Iowa. Gerald passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Valley Vue Care Center surrounded by his family at the age of 80.

Gerald was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ringsted, and most recently was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church.
Gerald received his early education at the Halfa school and furthered his education in the Ringsted Schools. After he was finished with his schooling, Gerald worked on the farm with his dad, and eventually took over the family farm.

On August 16th, 1985 he was united in marriage to Patti Rezac at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ringsted, Iowa. With this union, Gerald gained a son, Justin. The couple made their home in Ringsted, and added Megan, Caitlin and Jordan to complete the family. His children were his proudest accomplishment. In 2000, they moved back to Gerald’s favorite place, the family farm.

Gerald was Mr. Fix-it. You could always find him tinkering on something, even if it didn’t need to be fixed. Working on tractors was his true passion, and he was working on them til the end. He passed on his love and talent for fixing tractors to Jordan and taught all his children to be hard workers. Gerald had green thumb when it came to growing things, he always had a fruitful crop and garden.Once Gerald retired from farming, he treasured spending time with his kids and grandkids. Gerald enjoyed attending his kids and grandkids sporting events, he was one of their biggest fans. He would spend time in the machine shed and tinker. Gerald looked forward to his afternoon walks with Molly, their beagle, and Howard Taylor. Once Gerald moved to Valley Vue, he enjoyed his visits with all of his friends, especially when they talked about farming.
