A celebration of life was held for Kathy Hurlburt on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the United Methodist Church in Swea City, Iowa, with Pastor Todd Hartsock officiating.
Kathy was laid to rest at Harrison Township Cemetery in Swea City, Iowa.
Kathy Hurlburt the daughter of Alfred and Marjorie (Tucker) Hurlburt was born June 26, 1951, in Estherville. She died on Friday, August 25, 2023, at her home in Swea City, Iowa at the age of 72.
She received her education and graduated from the Ledyard School system before enrolling in Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville. After completion of her Associate’s Degree she moved to Mankato Minnesota and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She then worked at Faegre & Benson Law Firm in Minneapolis, MN, as a paralegal before making her home in Swea City.
Kathy made her church home at First United Methodist Church in Swea City where she was active in bible study and served as church secretary for more than 15 years. She enjoyed attending local events and loved the art of quilting.
Left to cherish Kathy’s memory are her sisters Nancy (Eldon) Haas and Joyce Kramer; five nieces and nephews; her special Cousin Larry Herke; and many friends.
She has been preceded in death by her parents; and her brother James Hurlburt.
