Marchia Florene (Maas) Broody passed away at the age of 91 years on August 19, 2024, with family at her side in Linden, Alberta, Canada.
She was the firstborn child of Louie and Hilda (Runge) Maas in Randolph, Nebraska, on April 28, 1933.
The family moving to Minnesota, ended up farming at D. C. Barringer farm near Graettinger (Hoprig, Iowa) farm in 1939. In 1942, the family bought and moved to the farm near Ringsted. She and her two brothers attended a one room school house (Center School No. 5) next to Jack Creek. Marcia graduated from Ringsted High School in 1951 and attended Mankato Commercial College in Minnesota. There she met Larry Boody. They married on April 25, 1953, in the Presbyterian Church in Ringsted.
Homes were made in Mississippi, Wisconsin, Iowa, South Carolina, and Minnesota. At one time, they hoped to be missionaries, but their plans changed as the family grew. They moved to Three Hills, Alberta, Canada, in 1970, where Larry was employed at Prairie Bible Institute for the next 23 years. Larry then worked at Canadian Sunday School Mission (One Hope Canada) before retiring.
They celebrated 71 years of marriage and eight children.
Marcia was a very dedicated person, taking the best care of family and friends. Most of all, continuing her deep devotion to God. She had a smile and a positive attitude, along with a laugh that gave happiness to those around her.
Marcia was predeceased by her eldest daughter, Virginia, her parents, and her brother, Marvin. Marcia is survived and missed by her husband, Larry, and their children, Keith (Irene), Miriam, Kay (Mark), Paul (Denise), Lloyd (Marla), Mark, and Glenda (Tim), 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, brother, Maynard, and sisters Marlys (Walt) and Murlaine.
Burial will be at Three Hills Cemetery, Three Hills, Alberta, Canada.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2024.
