Randall (Randy) Wade Holm, passed away on March 23, 2024, at the age of 71.

Randy was born in Sioux Falls SD on October 23, 1952,  the third son of Clayton and Myrtle (Jo) Holm (nee Hansen) and spent his youth in Armstrong, Iowa, a rural farming community.

He graduated from Armstrong High School in 1970 and from there found his way to Iowa State University, where lifelong friendships began and he became a steadfast fan of ISU Cyclone Sports.

During high school, Randy was a lifeguard and he later owned a Hobie Cat Catamaran that he sailed on Lake Independence.  As those sails became too heavy to hoist, he got his fix for his love of water and sea by cruising extensively, having witnessed the Midnight Sun in Norway and Cape Horn at the tip of South America.

While cruising satisfied his love of the sea, his passion for WWII History and WWII Aircraft was fueled by his brother, Terry Holm, then Director of Planes of Fame in Eden Prairie, which offered Randy opportunities to meet the WWII Aces in person. He immersed himself in their stories of aviation adventures and became an avid collector of aviation art.

Randy spent his career as a Master Scheduler and Planner for manufacturing companies in the Twin Cities Area including Honeywell, Alliant Techsystems, and St.Jude Medical. He retired in 2018 from TSI in Shoreview, MN.

Randy met Carol Rieger, his wife and partner, while working at Honeywell and they made their home in Brooklyn Center and Maple Grove, Minnesota. Their love of travel, art and pottery collecting, ISU Tailgating, gardening, their fur family, and entertaining family and friends comprised a life of almost 40 years together.

Randy was a listener, slow to judge and careful to speak, while carrying a steadfast interest in preserving the environment, our National Parks, and a just and fair society.

The memories of his life are preserved in the hearts of family and friends as the challenges of the last nine months with a cancer diagnosis and treatment fade away.

Randy is survived by his wife Carol Rieger, brother Richard (Rick) Holm, nephew Kurt Holm, and niece Stacy (Holm) Levins, sister-in-law Faye Holm, nieces Cynthia (Holm) Myers and Jackie (Holm) Solie, sister-in-law Carol Krokel,  brother-in-law William Krokel, and nephews Richard Krokel (Nida) and Kerry Krokel, great nephews Ricky Krokel (Jamie) and Nick Krokel (Lisa), and many great-great nieces and nephews.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Terry Lee Holm, brother-in-law Richard Krokel, and nephew Bradley Ward Krokel.

Memorials, if desired, may be directed to Iowa State University and the Central Lutheran Foundation.

Services will be held at Central Lutheran Church, 333 South 12th Street, Minneapolis MN,  on May 18th.  Visitation at 10:00 a.m. and services at 11:00 a.m.  with a reception following.
