Lois Holcomb

Lois Holcomb, 92, formerly of Swea City, Iowa, and a resident of Mora, Minnesota for 11 years, passed away September 14, 2021, at St. Clare Living Community.
Lois Ruth Schram was born March 6, 1929, the youngest of 5 children, to William and Lenore (Mitchell) Schram in Titonka, Iowa. She attended Titonka Public Schools and Morningside College. She taught elementary school in Swea City, Iowa.

Lois and Reuben Holcomb married July 21, 1950 and they lived on the family farm near Swea City, Iowa for 41 years. Three sons, Daryl, David and Steve were born to this marriage. Reuben and Lois moved into Swea City in 1991 and after Reuben’s death, Lois moved to Mora, Minnesota.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Swea City, Iowa where she sang in the choir and at many funerals over the years. She had a life-long love of music.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents, husband Reuben, infant son Lowell, brothers Wilbur Schram and Herbert Schram, sisters Kathryn Kuchenreuther and Harriet Schutter.
She is survived by her sons, Daryl Holcomb, Monroe, New Jersey; David (Lisa) Holcomb, Mora, Minnesota; and Steve (Renee) Holcomb, West Bend, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Shanon (Melissa) Holcomb, Chad (Marija)Holcomb, Sara (Scott) Janeshek, Aaron (Andrea) Rodenkirch, Sarah (Brian) Hasbargen, Laura (Jacob) Daire, Matthew Holcomb, Nathan (Tori) Jay, Lenore Holcomb, Reuben Holcomb; great-grandchildren Jack Holcomb, Kylie Holcomb, Alexa Holcomb, Stuart Janeshek, Amelia Rodenkirch, Riley Hasbargen, Sullivan Janeshek, Alivia Rodenkirch, Sienna Janeshek, Callie Hasbargen, Emma Daire.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 9:30 am on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Mora. The service will be live streamed on the Calvary Lutheran Church Facebook page. A visitation will be held ½ hour prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 am. Inurnment will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Swea City, Iowa, at 10:00 am on Sunday, October 10, 2021. Masks and social distancing are requested for Lois’ services. Arrangements are by the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home of Mora. Condolences may be posted at
