Marlene Lois McCarthy

Marlene McCarthy was born on March 31, 1932 in West Bend, Iowa. She grew up in Iowa but moved to Colorado in the 1950s.
She was an LPN nurse and homemaker and worked many jobs.

Marlene is survived by her husband, George W. “Bill” McCarthy; sons Jim (Joy Millard) McCarthy, Kelly (Jeffrey Hoselton) McCarthy, Kris McCarthy; daughter Kathy Heerdt; daughter-inlaw Nola Rand; daughter-in-law Paula Light; brothers Ron (Iva) Jurgens, Gary Mac Jurgens, Denny Jurgens , Mike (Carol) Winterbank, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Marlene is also survived by her grandchildren: Jon, Joe, Jared, Jessica, Megan, Cayla, Erin, Amy, Jacob, Sam, Alastair, Zack and Quinten; and numerous great grandchildren.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Jan, two sons Terry and Galen, two sisters Myrna and Jean; son-in-law Dean Heerdt.

Marlene was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Pueblo, Colorado, and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She loved her husband and family and enjoyed a fun evening with a card game of Tiki. Marlene will be remembered as a good cook and a respected individual who enjoyed people of all cultures. She cherished each and every day as she lived life to the fullest.
Marlene died Thursday May 27, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa at the age of 89. Cremation has taken place and at Marlene’s request, no services will be held.
Interment of ashes will be at a later date in Cylinder, Iowa.
