Funeral services for Myrna Whitesell was held on Friday, July 24, 2015 at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong, Iowa with Pastor Lauri Boysen officiating. Burial was at the Armstrong Grove Cemetery in Armstrong, Iowa. Henry-Olson was in charge of the arrangements.      Myrna Lee (Pierce) Whitesell the daughter of Mike and Viola (VanBrunt) Pierce was born January 2, 1945 in Winnebago, Minnesota.  She died on Monday, July 20, 2015 at her cabin in Park Rapids, Minnesota at the age of 70.She received her education and graduated from Armstrong High School.  She then attended Cosmetology in Fairmont, Minnesota.On March 29, 1964 she was united in marriage to Douglas Whitesell in Armstrong.  Following their marriage the couple farmed and raised their family near Armstrong.  Myrna was a crafter, painter, and quilter and volunteered at the Nazareth Lutheran Church and the Armstrong Historical Museum.  After retiring from farming, the couple spent their summers operating the Front Porch Gifts and Treasures in Dorset, Minnesota for 16 years.She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong and the Eastern Star.Left to cherish Myrna’s memory are her husband, Doug of Armstrong; children, Lora McCaulley and her husband, Robert of Mankato, Minnesota; Dan Whitesell and his wife, Sam of Swea City; grandchildren, Bill, Mary, Angel, Mike, Alyssa, Garrett, Christian; great-grandchildren, John, Ava, Alexis and siblings, Ken (Judie) Pierce, Kate Pierce, Inez (Bruce) Hasara.She has been preceded in death by a grandchild, Analise; her parents and a sister, Roberta Jorgensen.
