Blaine “Bub” Carl Griese, 20, of Armstrong died at home surrounded by family and friends on September 15, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Blaine was born on November 14, 2001, in Fairmont, MN, one minute before his twin sister, Mercedeez.

Blaine was always happiest with his “girls”- Mercedeez, Oaklyn and his dog, Hazel.

Blaine grew up in Dolliver and Armstrong. He was baptized and confirmed Lutheran. He graduated from North Union High School in 2020 and attended the welding program at Iowa Lakes Community College. He worked with his Dad and Grandfather at their C&D Elevator Construction Business.

Growing up, Blaine loved anything outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Family was everything to him. He loved going on vacations with family, but always liked to get home afterwards. He loved making memories, and he made so many in his short time here. Blaine and Mercedeez were inseparable and always watching out for each other.

Blaine had a fun-loving personality, always being goofy and a smart aleck. He was willing to help anyone, anytime without wanting anything in return. He really loved driving his trucks.

Blaine was a proud dad to Oaklyn Marie.

Other surviving family members are his mother, Paula (LaPlant) Griese; father, Daniel (Jill) Griese; sister, Mercedeez Griese; brothers, Cale (Amanda) Griese and Jackson Bassett; aunts and uncles, Sherri (Tim) Chapman, Hector (Lisa) Quevedo, Chris (Heidi) LaPlant, Kasey Young, Robyn Griese, and Steve (Sandy) Griese; maternal grandparents, Marie LaPlant and Jerry (Lois) LaPlant; paternal grandparents, Carl and Dee Griese and Donald and Joan Reser.

Blaine is preceded in death by his maternal great-grandmother, Mary Ryan and paternal great-grandparents, Carl Sr. and Emmet Griese.
