Darla Kay Meyer, daughter of Richard and Kathleen (Popp) Meyer, was born on August 22, 1974 in Estherville, Iowa. She passed away at her home in rural Armstrong on March 9, 2023 at the age of 48.

Darla attended and graduated from North Kossuth High School in Swea City, Iowa in 1993. She then attended Iowa Lakes Community College and obtained her Associate of Arts Degree in Travel and Tourism. She later attended Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa and Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming, at both colleges she was enrolled in a horse program. After completing the horse program, she returned to her home and helped her dad farm for a brief time. She then worked for a horse farmer in the area. As her parents aged, she cared for them in their home. After her parents passed away, she began to work at Tractor Supply in Fairmont.

Darla had a passion for horses, raising 40 at her home acreage. She was a member of the Estherville Saddle Club. She enjoyed reading and going to many movies. Along with the horses she also raised chickens and enjoyed time with her dog, Jack. Traveling to see her friends in the Amish community brought her great happiness.

Darla is survived by her siblings Colleen (Adam) Denker of Lone Rock, Jeffrey (Princess) Meyer of Sioux Falls, and Dan (Kelli) Scowcroft, Andover MN; her nieces and nephews Cole, Matthew, Austin, Allison, Miles, Carly, and McKenzie Denker, Marceline Meyer, Taylor, Ethan, Kylie, and Josie Scowcroft.
