A funeral service for Lola Harris will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2022 at the United Methodist Church. Pastor Lyn Roesler will be the officiant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service (1 p.m.). Lola will be laid to rest at the Armstrong Grove Cemetery. Henry-Olson will be in charge of the arrangements. 

Lola Irene Harris, 92, of Armstrong, Iowa passed on to her eternal rest Friday, September 2, 2022. Lola was born March 1, 1930 in Clearfield, Iowa to Loren and Violet Nevill. At a young age she moved to Estherville where she graduated from Estherville High School. One of her first jobs was as a telephone switch board operator. She was married to Robert James Harris on January 15, 1950, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They spent their married life farming north of Armstrong. After her husband passed on, she moved from the farm to Armstrong in 1998.

Lola had a strong faith and was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Armstrong. She served on the church board, numerous committees, sang in the church choir for many years and attended Women’s Circle. Being a 50 year member of the S.O. Club and a lifetime member of Eastern Star were achievements she was proud of.

Lola enjoyed being creative, making ceramics and handwork of all kinds. A large garden was one of her joys and she loved all flowers. Sports were an enjoyable activity and she was a loyal Warriors and Twins fan.

Lola is survived by her two children, Terry (Mary) Harris, Armstrong, IA and Diane (Rod) Johannsen, Frisco, TX. Three grandchildren, Melissa (Emerson) Busse, Michael (Heather) Johannsen, Michele (Matthew) Langan. Four great grandchildren, Beck and Audrey Johannsen, Luke and Avery Langan, sister, Betty Brant, and brother, Loren Nevill Jr.

 Lola dearly loved spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, infant son, parents, sister, brother-in-law & sister-in-law.
